Legal

Terms of Service

Effective 1 July 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you ("you", "your") and WhatKeywords ("we", "us", "our") governing your access to and use of the website, app and services at whatkeywords.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy.

1. Your account

You must be at least 16 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.

You may not share your account with others outside your team seats (where applicable), or use false identity to register.

2. Subscriptions, billing and refunds

WhatKeywords offers a Free plan and paid plans (Pro, Agency). Paid plans are billed on a monthly or annual recurring basis via our payment processor (Stripe). Prices, features and limits are listed on our pricing page and may be updated with 30 days' notice.

You authorise us to charge your payment method for each renewal until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation stops future renewals but doesn't retroactively refund the current billing period.

We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on your first paid month if you email support@whatkeywords.com. Beyond the guarantee window, refunds are at our discretion.

3. Credits and fair use

Some Service features (keyword lookups, SERP snapshots, PDF exports) consume credits from your plan's monthly allowance. Unused credits do not roll over unless explicitly stated. Overage may be metered or blocked depending on your plan tier.

We may throttle or temporarily suspend accounts that use the Service in a way that is materially inconsistent with normal, human-scale SEO workflows (e.g. bulk automated scraping, wholesale resale of raw data).

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to derive source code of the Service.
  • Resell, sublicense, or bulk-export raw ranking data as a standalone product.
  • Use the Service to send spam, phishing, malicious code or content that infringes third-party rights.
  • Circumvent rate limits, credit caps or authentication mechanisms.
  • Use the Service for any illegal activity or in violation of applicable laws.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice.

5. Your data

You retain all rights to the data you input into the Service (domains, keywords, client info, notes, branding assets). We only use it to provide the Service to you, as set out in our Privacy Policy.

We rely on third-party SERP data providers (currently DataForSEO) to source ranking positions and search volume. That data is provided as-is and may occasionally be incomplete or delayed.

6. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third-party providers including Stripe (payments), Resend (email), DataForSEO (SERP data) and analytics platforms. Your use of features tied to those providers is subject to their own terms and privacy notices, in addition to ours.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including all software, design, logos, copy and trademarks, is owned by WhatKeywords or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to you. You're granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service while your account is in good standing.

8. Termination

You may close your account at any time from settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, don't pay fees due, or if we're required to by law. On termination, we'll cancel active subscriptions and (subject to legal retention) delete your data within 30 days.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted or that ranking / traffic data is exhaustive or perfectly accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, WhatKeywords and its officers, directors, employees and agents are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD 100 if you haven't paid us anything, whichever is greater.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change we'll notify you by email or via an in-app notice at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after that period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless applicable consumer-protection law grants you a different right.
